Like many others, I've been an admirer of dollhouse miniatures for years. After all. who doesn't like tiny little things? My mother and my grandmother both collected dollhouse miniatures, but I lacked the time necessary to do any serious collecting or building of dollhouses until recently.
I retired from a full-time career in higher education in 2021. After that, I devoted my time to building my laser arts and crafts business. Then at Christmastime in 2022, I wanted to make something unique to gift to my mother. I knew she loved miniatures and she also collected antique advertising items. It was then that I got the idea to make miniature advertising boxes for her. She loved them...and so did I. Then it hit me - what other miniatures might I be able to make? As it turns out, I could make a lot! I now make and sell miniature items under the brand Miniatures by Libby.
I began researching and learning about other miniature artisans. I was particularly drawn to the miniatures made in the 1970s - 1990s. So, that is the era on which I focus my collection and my miniature resale business.
In a few short months, I was addicted. Full on, addicted! My husband likes to tell me, "You have an addiction, but it's okay because it's a miniature one." And, he's right you know.
P.S. I am also a children's book author. You can view information about my books at ShiningHopeAdventures.com
